Retail Sales Monitor
The scheme measures changes in the actual value of retail sales from participants. It was set up at the request of the members of the Chamber of Trade to have access to aggregated weekly sales data with which to provide them with a fast and accurate comparison to their own company's performance.

HOW THE SCHEME OPERATES
In return for submitting their sales figures, each participant receives a weekly schedule of sales performance by category for the current week and the percentage increase on the equivalent week a year earlier.

The detailed reports and data from the service are confidential to the members of the scheme.

WEEKLY REPORT
• Foot fall trends in the Eagle Centre by week on the year
• Car park trends by week on the year
• Sales performance across all retail sectors by week on the year
• Sales performance by category by week on the year
• Complete trend graphs detailed % breakdown

BENEFITS OF THE SCHEME
It provides the retailers who contribute data with a key management tool that enables senior management to very quickly compare their performance to the rest of their sector.

The monitor also provides authoritative financially based commentary on retail sales - providing a greater understanding of the state and the relevance of the retail sector in Derby.

Participants get to shape the way the scheme develops so that they can guide it to their own business needs and new categories and other views of data can be introduced following requests from participants.

Figures are only made available to participants in an amalgamated form, for each of the sectors. Individual figures are kept completely confidential.
